The Pure Color Experiments
After spending over a decade deeply studying the heavy blending and color theories of Vincent van Gogh, I found myself drawn to the raw, unmixed dreamscapes of Marc Chagall. This specific series of oil paintings (later I started on my colored pencil and oil paint studies) serves as a conscious departure from my standard, calculated blending techniques. By applying pure, highly saturated pigments directly to the surface without prior mixing, I wanted to explore how the eye processes raw color friction. These pieces represent a spontaneous, non-linear process of discovery—allowing the pure intensity of the paint to dictate the final horizon, form, and emotional weight of the canvas.
